UK Managing Director

Jim is Managing Director of our London office and leads AprilSix Proof’s operations in the UK and EMEA. He joined Proof Communication in 2007, becoming a director in 2011.

Previously he managed media and marketing campaigns for global brands such as Philips and Nestle Waters.

He is now motivated by helping technology and STEM organisations demonstrate the value of their work or drive sales of their products and services. He is an expert in helping clients understand what they want to communicate and delivering those messages to the people they need to influence.

Jim drives best practice in PR as Chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations STEM Committee, a member of STEMPRA and an affiliate member of the Institute of Physics. He reports to the April Six Group CEO.
Joe MeaneyJoe Meaney

Operations Director

Joe is UK Operations Director at AprilSix Proof and has been with the business since 2007.

He leads client work for the National Physical Laboratory, Babcock, Titania, Arqiva and Tokamak Energy and played a senior role in recent projects to develop strategy and content for the European Spallation Source and CERN.

Joe gained a comprehensive knowledge of the public relations industry by first joining the Press & Public Affairs department of Arts Council England as a graduate, then departing as a Press Officer. Following this, he worked at innovation charity Nesta managing the communications for two early stage investment funds.

Joe mentors students studying science communication, has a Masters Degree in Journalism and is a Fellow of the RSA.
Amy DrummondAmy Drummond

Head of Technology

Amy has worked in communications for the past 13 years, and has directed campaigns for start-ups, multinational corporations and non-profit organisations. Her background is largely technology PR focused, and she is particularly interested in the application of emerging technologies in scientific research and healthcare. She has experience of promoting a wide range of technologies – from 3D printing and M2M communications, to data analytics and cyber security.

She has extensive agency experience and this has honed her ability to work in high pressured environments, multitask and deliver coverage across national, regional and vertical titles.

In addition to agency work, she also has in-house experience - having worked in the Communications Department at The Institute of Cancer Research.
Ellie DobsonEllie Dobson

Head of Client Services

Ellie Dobson is Head of Client Services at AprilSix Proof with over five years of experience in science, engineering and technology PR. As Head of Client Services she is responsible for driving excellence in client management and service delivery across the business.

Ellie also leads on a portfolio of clients including some of AprilSix Proof’s flagship accounts, such as the Royal Academy of Engineering. With the Academy, Ellie runs national campaigns aimed at influencing policy makers, the engineering industry and general public, as well as providing consultancy to the Academy’s Enterprise Hub member companies and generating extensive media coverage for the UK’s most promising engineering SMEs.

She also runs a comprehensive thought leadership programme for QinetiQ, and is driving an international campaign with the General Lighthouse Authorities to influence industry and policy makers on issues surrounding satellite navigation technologies.

Prior to joining AprilSix Proof, Ellie spent three years at Wildfire (previously EML Wildfire) running communication programmes for commercial organisations in the technology space, including renowned engineering consultancies Cambridge Consultants and Plextek, and telecoms giant Mitel.
Bryony ChinneryBryony Chinnery

Account Director

Bryony is an Account Director with experience across a wide range of sub-sectors including biotechnology, medical devices, smart cities, transport, software, online and cyber security, data centres and storage, programming and open source technology and telecommunications. She works on the Institut Laue-Langevin, Cyber Security Challenge UK, the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre, the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre and Clearswift. Her skills span across all that is communications with experience delivering social media campaigns, stakeholder relations, lead generation, event management and issues management.

Before AprilSix Proof She worked at Kaizo with clients including Elsevier, Gemalto, Unilever, Serco, Johnson & Johnson and SanDisk as well as industry bodies such as the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee, the European Science Foundation, the National Maritime Museum and the Society of Biology.

Bryony graduated with a PR degree from the University of Greenwich.
Alex CloneyAlex Cloney

Alex is an Account Director at AprilSix Proof with more than six years experience in science, engineering and technology PR, particularly in the aerospace, transport and defense sectors. At AprilSix Proof, Alex runs campaigns for flagship accounts such as the National Physical Laboratory, Royal Academy of Engineering, the General Lighthouse Authorities and CompTIA. She was a finalist in the PR Powerhouse category for the 2016 PCR Women of the Year awards.

Her previous clients include aerospace company Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, part of EADS, global manufacturing firm Thomson Linear and multinational engineering giant Invensys (now part of Schneider Electric) .

She has significant experience delivering media results that truly meet her clients’ business objectives and long-term goals. More than anything, she loves hearing about the latest innovations and working with the media to inform audiences about advances that can make a difference to their lives.
Mike ChengMike Cheng

Account Manager

Mike is responsible for the day-to-day communications activity across a number of our key technology clients including The Cyber Security Challenge UK, (ISC)2, Clearswift, BOC and QinetiQ. He is exceptionally talented at being the linchpin within the team balancing client goals and demands with making sure AprilSix Proof delivers consistent high-quality work at a fast and efficient pace.
 
Prior to AprilSix Proof, Mike worked at Spark Communications, where he worked for clients across the B2B technology space. These included Verizon, HCL Technologies, Guavus, ViaSat UK and Trace One. Before this, he was at AxiCom, where he worked on major enterprise technology clients such as Dell and Red Hat at a UK and EMEA coordination level.
 
Mike graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA in Philosophy and Politics. He is interested in music, international relations, football, and has a blog writing mainly about tech and the digital world. He also enjoys learning about all things to do with sciences, social sciences and philosophy.
Paul NoonanPaul Noonan

Senior Content and Media Executive

Paul helps our clients bring complex ideas to life and tell their story compellingly. His clients include General Lighthouse Authority, (ISC)2, CompTIA and the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is exceptionally good at building relationships with key target journalists and consistently demonstrates a particular skill at unlocking the unique selling proposition in any business, service or product and helping the ‘best-kept secrets’ of our STEM clients achieve the exposure they deserve.

Paul develops thought leadership campaigns and translate inventions and ideas into compelling creative media campaigns. Paul is so good at writing thought leadership for clients that while he was working at Jargon PR he was covered in The Guardian. Some of his other client experience includes Qualcomm, IBM, Websense, Phillips and Cloudmark.
 
Paul is a Public Relations graduate and a former theatre actor. He is a keen tennis player with an Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) rating of 6.1. For perspective Andy Murray’s rating when he was 16 was 1.5.

Amita is responsible for creating and developing client campaigns, ensuring that we translate their technical content into clear and engaging communications. Her clients include (ISC)², FireEye and Tessella.

Previously, Amita worked at Spreckley where she developed an extensive knowledge of the B2B technology market. Her clients included Ingram Micro Cloud, Romax Technology, The Green Grid and Outsourcery. Prior to Spreckley, Amita was at AxiCom where she worked with tech industry heavyweights Dell and Red Hat.

Amita graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA in Film & Literature. Having a keen interest in the arts as well as technology, she once designed a billboard advert for the Department of Education which was displayed throughout London.
Fareha LaskerFareha Lasker

Fareha supports the day-to-day activity for various clients including the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre, Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre, Institut Laue-Langevin and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF).  

Fareha has particular experience working with global and pan-European life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare and pharmaceutical clients, covering disease awareness, corporate communications as well as traditional branded campaigns.

She has an MA in Science Journalism and a BSc in BioMedical Science. Fareha enjoys ribbon embroidery and Tudor Blackwork and has completed courses with the Royal School of Needlework.
Niall MoranNiall Moran

Niall works with AprilSix Proof clients QinetiQ, Tokamak Energy, SANS Institute and the Cyber Security Challenge delivering corporate and investor communications. He has particular experience in helping clients achieve their business objectives with PR, shaping audience perception through targeted media relations campaigns. 
 
Niall joined us from Spreckley where he acquired an extensive knowledge of the B2B technology and business PR markets. His clients included Outsourcery, APM Group and Helvetic Fund Management, as well as personal PR for former Dragon's Den investor and cloud computing pioneer Piers Linney.

Niall holds an MA in Public and Political Communication from Dublin City University, where he also graduated with a BA in Economics, Politics and Law.

David has eight years experience running communications campaigns for organisations in science, engineering and technology.
 
Helping larger organisations like QinetiQ, SANS Institute, Tessella, Transport Systems Catapult, NPL and The Open University, David works to raise awareness of their capabilities and expertise.

He is experienced at creating and running integrated communications programmes where media, direct marketing, events, research, SEO and social media come together seamlessly.
David CohenDavid Cohen

Senior Account Manager

As a Senior Account Manager at AprilSix Proof, David uses his seven years in PR to develop, implement and manage media relations strategies for STEM start-ups, global technology and engineering organisations and government research bodies.

David has a wide PR background founded in business and corporate work. Sectors he has worked in range from IP and media to big data, and clients include Santander, Ministry of Sound and Marks & Clerk.

At AprilSix Proof he is responsible for the National Physical Laboratory, the UK’s centre for measurement, fusion power innovators Tokamak Energy, and engineering and tech giant QinetiQ’s Cyber and Secure Navigation divisions.

Previous agencies include Eulogy, Bell Pottinger and Freuds. These followed an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at Newcastle University.

Finally, his personal interests lie in music. He has a fledging band (name TBC) in which he plays drums but really needs a front man/woman.
Tom HarveyTom Harvey

Tom works on clients across the technology sector, including Tessella, CompTIA, and Cyber Security Challenge UK, delivering corporate communications. He is responsible for tactical delivery, ensuring that clients project the right messages to their target audiences in the most effective way.
  Tom joined AprilSix Proof in October 2015, having spent the previous year and a half working with a range of cloud, data and technology clients. He has also worked in the education sector, spending nine months as a junior reporter for Suffolk New College. Tom graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2013 with a BA Honours degree in Journalism, and also holds NCTJ qualifications in shorthand and sports journalism.
Crispin WilliamsCrispin Williams

Crispin Williams is a lobbyist with extensive expertise in STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) areas, infrastructure and social impact lobbying. As well as lobbying, Crispin has worked in international governmental organisations, embassies, the Houses of Parliament and as a political broadcaster and commentator. His wider work in the industry sees him act as a judge for the Public Affairs Awards and contribute to books on best practice in public affairs, such as ‘Lobbying: The Art of Political Persuasion’.
Danny MitchellDanny Mitchell

Danny works across a range of clients across the whole STEM and technology spectrum, including the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub, the Royal Commission of the Exhibition of 1851, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), delivering corporate communications. Danny draws on his experience as a former journalist to ensure that clients project the right messages to their target audiences in the most effective way.
Prior to joining AprilSix Proof in June 2016, Danny worked for both b2b and b2c clients, with a particular focus on technology. At Ranieri Communications, a specialised Consumer tech PR firm, Danny helped clients such as Harman Kardon, SteelSeries, and Wacom secure consistent coverage in prestigious national and trade media. Before this, Danny worked at Flame PR where he worked for a range of b2b clients building an extensive knowledge of the technology and finance industries.
Prior to joining the “dark side,” otherwise known as the PR industry, Danny worked as a journalist. He started off at a regional paper, the Northants Telegraph, before joining National News press agency where he covered major national stories including the Hatton Garden heist, the Jeremy Clarkson “fracas,” and the Ebola outbreak. He holds a BA in Print Journalism from Nottingham Trent University and NCTJ certifications in shorthand and newswriting.
Sam MiddletonSam Middleton

Sam works across both AprilSix Proof’s technology and science sectors with clients including Clearswift, (ISC)2, IBioIC, Trax and QinetiQ. He is responsible for delivering all-round corporate PR and communications support across accounts, helping with the operational delivery of client’s PR objectives.
Sam joined Proof in early January 2016 from a Midlands-based agency where he gained experience of the B2B media landscape and business PR. He has also worked in the charity sector as a junior marketing executive for an education charity in Birmingham.
Sam holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Sheffield where he graduated from in 2014.
Faye LockierFaye Lockier

Faye is based in AprilSix Proof’s San Francisco office and is responsible for leading our US client programs. Working closely with both the UK and US agencies, she designs and deploys campaigns for clients with specialties spanning every element of complex technology—from defense and security, to artificial intelligence and data analytics. By synchronizing marketing and PR activity to boost return on investment, and combining creative and technical PR activities to boost brand awareness in crowded markets, Faye provides a strong and consistent point of contact for our US clients.
Frances CassidyFrances Cassidy

> Frances Cassidy
Junior Account Executive

Frances excels in proving the relevance of science to the general public, specialising in life sciences, fundamental physics and biotechnology. Her clients include the Institut Laue-Langevin, the National Physical Laboratory and the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre. Recent examples of the press coverage she has secured include topics such as synthetic biology, nanomagnets crop science.

Frances completed her BSc in Biological Sciences (Microbiology & Infectious Disease) and French at the University of Exeter, and an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity & Public Health at the University of Bristol. During her university years, Fran volunteered as an Emergency Room assistant and midwife at hospitals in The Philippines, and as a nutrition and physical activity assistant in a public health programme for children, before deciding to pursue a career in STEM communications.

As well as being in fluent in Japanese, she is an avid ballet dancer, having completed all grades and danced with the Hong Kong Ballet Company.
