Terrorist threat creates competition furore

by AprilSix Proof

Proof has been responsible for the top technology news stories on both the BBC and WIRED websites today. As part of its work for the Cyber Security Challenge UK, a national programme of games and competitions to find future online defenders, Proof launched the current round of competitions by creating the Flagday Associates – a new terrorist group intent on bringing down the UK’s online facilities. The Associates announced themselves by way of a nasty little threat video which warns of an impending attack, which has gone viral, receiving more than 2000 views already and driving over 100 registrations for the new competition in just a couple of hours. Proof devised the campaign, made the video, and worked with reporters to cover the story.
