AprilSix Proof has won a competitive tender to provide communications support to the University of Cambridge for the government-backed Inter-ACE and C2C cyber security events.
The Inter-ACE is an annual cyber security competition, backed by the National Cyber Security Centre, Cabinet Office, and industry partners. It brings together teams from the top universities that host Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research from across the UK, and aims to encourage the most promising talent to pursue cyber careers.
AprilSix Proof is working with the competition team at Cambridge to develop a communications programme focussed on media relations, events support and social media support to raise the profile of the 2017 competitions among industry, government and the wider public with a view to securing more support for the competition and help fuel its continued growth in years to come.
Michelle Houghton, Events Manager at University of Cambridge said, “The Inter-ACE and C2C competitions have become ever-more popular among the cyber security education community. As such, we were looking for a communications partner to elevate our brand and awareness further and to help engage strategic partners both now and for future competitions. AprilSix Proof has a proven track record in the field and we are looking forward to working with the team to deliver the best competitions yet.”
Jim Sutton, MD at AprilSix Proof said, “It’s a privilege to be working with another iconic name such as the University of Cambridge. With our combination of experience in both cyber security and working with leading academic institutions, we are a natural fit for the Cambridge team in promoting Inter-ACE and C2C.”

The Inter-ACE is an annual cyber security competition, backed by the National Cyber Security Centre, Cabinet Office, and industry partners. It took place at the University of Cambridge on the 18th of March and saw more than 100 students from universities recognised as Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research take part. In the competition, the university teams face off in a series of challenges, in a bid to be crowned the best amateur cyber talent in the country. Individuals from the winning team of the Inter-ACE will be guaranteed a place in the annual Cambridge2Cambridge (C2C) cyber competition later in the summer, which is jointly organised by the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Boston, US. This time, the teams will be mixed to include cyber defenders from the best universities from across the UK and US, who will come together to learn best practice in cyber security and demonstrate their ability to become future cyber defenders. The three-day event takes place between the 24th and 26th of July, again at the University of Cambridge, and will be observed by experts from across the cyber security industry.
