Robert Goodwill MP reports to Parliament on Europe’s future transport policy
Robert Goodwill has announced that a plan to integrate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) into European aerospace received unanimous support from the recent EU Transport Council, but safety fears mean that members remain cautious about fully opening it up to the market.
He also announced that the UK Government lobbied to further privatise the EU domestic passenger market to increase competition and that the External Action Service would now be working with EU Member States to determine a mechanism to foster information sharing with EU airlines.
The Commission also told attendees that the recent Galileo satellite incident was likely triggered by a mechanical fault and a full report was due by the end of October.
