Both governments sign Letter of Intent to jointly fund cyber research

The UK’s Cabinet Office and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) have signed a Letter of Intent with Israel’s National Cyber Bureau (INCB) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Space (MOST) to encourage joint research activities in cyber security.

It sets out an agreement that £1.2 million of joint funding will be used to fund a cyber research initiative through the EPSRC. The project aims to encourage UK and Israeli academics to work together more effectively across the following 6 areas, chosen in consultation with academics as the areas that will benefit most:

  • identity management
  • regulating cyber security
  • privacy assurance and perceptions
  • mobile and cloud security
  • human aspects of security or usable security
  • cryptography

This letter follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by The Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance in the Cabinet Office and the Israeli government in 2013.
